Churros

School holidays…..3 hungry kids….cold weather, what better than Churros.

Ingredients:

1 cup of water
100g butter
1 cup of plain flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 Eggs, lightly beaten
Vegetable oil for deep frying
Icing sugar, sifted
200 g good quality cooking chocolate
1/4 cup milk

Directions:
Combine water and butter in a saucepan and bring to boil.
Remove from heat
Add the flour and salt and beat with a wooden spoon until combined and the dough comes away from the side. Cool
When dough is cool add the beaten eggs little by little while beating. When dough is shiny and well combined.
Spoon into a piping bag with a large fluted nozzle.
Heat oil in a large flat saucepan on medium heat
Using a knife to cut the dough, pipe 10 cm lengths into the oil and fry until golden brown.
Drain on kitchen paper and dust with icing sugar.
Melt the chocolate with the milk until mixture is smooth.
Arrange churros on a platter and serve with the dipping sauce……

This is to honour my friend who passed away last month. He gave me this recipe for my breadmaker. Please do not take offense to the name he gave it, that was just how he was…what you see is what you get.

320 cc milk or water
45o gm Flour
1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil or butter
1.5 teaspoon salt
16 gm yeast
200 gm sultanas
1.5 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon bread improver
1-3 tablespoons of gluten

Makes a beautiful sultana bread.

The title makes me sound ancient…but yes I remember when looking for a rental property meant going to the real estate picking up a list and then telling them you are interested in a certain property. They then would take your drivers license and hand over the key so that you could go and inspect a property. If you like it you submit your application and if not you repeat the procedure for other properties.

Now you need to submit interest either online or by phone. Then you wait ….They then inform you of an inspection date, usually a few days to a week away. So you turn up for inspections with about half a million other people. If you are not interested…..you go back home and repeat the cycle.

I have a gripe as it takes so much longer to find a place and you are dependent on other peoples schedules etc. In the meantime you could be living on the streets before you find a home….there has got to be a better way.

Looking for a theme that I like

You will notice if you are a regular visitor that the theme is constantly changing. I am looking for a theme that I like. Must have something to do with the restlessness I feel at the moment. So when you come back just say “Oh she changed it AGAIN”. I will find a theme one day and say …this is it. Until then…

I had to return back ups of my databases as my server was moved …I also changed my theme…to suit my mood for now. Some posts after December last year are missing but they weren’t important. However I will re post them as soon as I have time. My main aim was to get the website up and functioning as soon as possible. Ok that is it for now

I changed the theme for a little Christmas cheer. It has sprung up on me so suddenly don’t know if I can handle Christmas this year. We don’t even have a tree. Will do better next year
